I did my dual cross country yesterday. I'm starting to feel like I'm finally getting close to finishing my SP ticket.

It was a spectacular day in eastern Maryland Clear blue skies with very little haze for this part of the world. Winds were almost directly down the runways for each of the three airports. I flew from W29 (BayBridge in Stevensille Md) to RJD (Ridgely, Md) to CGE (Cambrigde, Md) and then retraced the flight backwards. Between RJD and CGE you fly up pretty much the middle of the DelMarVa Peninsula. I could see the Atlantic on one side of the plane and clear across the Chesapeake Bay on the other side.

Flights like this are why I love to fly. Just thought I'd share.

Thanks to the folks at Chesapeake Sport Pilot for making this possible.

Ron

rsteele, for me, I found the cross country dual much more exciting than my first solo! The reason, I guess, is because I felt I already could fly the plane on my own and so I was anxious to start doing some "real" flying. I was able to fly to my friend's grass strip and use it as one of the airports along the way, and I had such a blast because it was a short field AND soft field combo...not to mention the strip was sloped and required a forward slip and then landing uphill. On the way back to the base airport, there were no good landmarks (just hills and cows), so it was a little interesting navigating by dead reckoning.

FUN FUN FUN.

That is excellent!

You're finally getting to experience what most lowly mortals just dream about. Going somewhere on your own, and looking down at the ants crawling along the highways.

Bravo!

I really meant tot take the camera. In fact, I usually leave it in my flight bag, had removed it for picture transfer :-( The only downside was forgetting the camera and not have a longer flight.
