Friday eve, a plane crashed about 5 miles from my home, about 10 miles short of it's final destination, KHND. He was comng up from the PHX area, perhaps 250 nm as the crow flies.
The reason was no fuel.
Pilot was over Lake Mead.
My question is why did this happen and could he have landed on the lake?

I checked this fellow on the FAA data base, I believe his medical was not up to date.

Probably thought he could make the airport. Almost made it.
He probably died because of no shoulder harness. Cockpit looks pretty good. |
