FAA Order 8710.7 is obsolete, and no longer used. Its been replaced with Order 8900.2.

That's good info.

For the purpose of the poster, there's probably very little difference in the stuff to give him an accurate idea of what will take place and what to study and expect.

The two books I recommend is the Sport Pilot PTS (of course) and the Sport Pilot Checkride book. The Sport Pilot Cherckride book is the Oral and flight quide for sport pilots and sport pilot instructors taking checkrides. You can find it at www.ap-stores.com

Most examiners suggest this so the applicant has all the information possible for the checkride. Examiners like to pass rather than fail applicants. All the information a CFI Sport applicant needs to pass is in this book.
