I currently have dual GRT EFIS panels and wish to add weather to my cockpit. My question is two fold surrounding the best option.

1) I have heard mixed reviews about the WxWorx units combined with the GRT Sport SX. Can someone give me feedback on this combination?

2) My other thought was to go with either a 396 or the new Aera line. Weather on both these units seem to have an excellent track record.

The WxWorx would work with my existing unit and have a larger screen but the reliability of the Garmin, and the GPS redundancy, is a comforting thought.

Ideas and inputs needed.

I would definitely go the GPSMap 396 or 496 route, with XM weather. Redundancy is two of the most important things in aviation.

Thanks Paul, that was my thought as well. The bigger screen will only go so far in my eyes, but the backup GPS and track record of Garmin is really hard to beat.

I bit the bullet and took your advice. I now have a Garmin 496 w/ XM weather to complement my dual screen Synthetic Vision EFIS. The weather will definitely be a nice addition to the cockpit and the redundancy can't hurt, especially since I am planning my first trip to the Bahamas soon. Thank you for your input and advice.
