Re: LSA's vs. 150/152's: What's cheaper, more reliable?
The commentary speaks volumes about the practicability of the ASTM vs standard certification. The flight schools with SLSA are stuck. I can at least go experimental. The flight school has very few choices. Flight Design being the top one for having the infrastructure to provide support quickly enoug...

Its one thing to have an instructor "fail" something and fly partial panel - its another when the failure has already put you in an unusual attitude and nothing on the panel makes sense. As a fellow CFII, I couldn't agree more. After all, partial panel training is merely designed to prepa...

A local flight school had a bunch of C150's, a CTLS, some C172's etc. He got rid of the C150s as being maintenance hogs.

Re: Insurance Grumblings
My agent explained that a deductible of $5000 only saved about $20-30. Certainly not worth bothering about. Her explanation was that there were very few "cheap" repairs on airplanes.
The new premium is $1646.

I was giving Charlie some good-nature ribbing because he is passionate about some subjects (but he's never displayed an ire to any of us that I know of.)

Saw a guy climb in the club glider the other day with what looked like combat boots. I asked him if it affected his sensitivity in sensing rudder inputs.

You are right - I should question the deductible.

I concede your point. But they are rare, I think.FastEddieB wrote:jnmeade wrote:

Re: Spin Training.
If I remember correctly, three turns is part of the definition of a "fully developed spin" and less than that is still part of an incipient spin. It has to do with the airplane characteristics but I'd need to look it up to be sure of just what. I do recall that the Cessna Aerobat would go ...

Re: Spin Training.
We all should know more about the aerodynamics of a spin - how and why the aircraft spins, how to prevent entry and if in a spin how to get out of it. I enjoyed my spin training and use to go out and practice on my own in a Citabria. I did not go into a fully developed spin (more than 3 turns). I wa...
