Re: Pilot/Owner Maintenance on a C-162

I believe that "LSA" is actually divided into 2 categories. What is the difference between an experimental light sport aircraft (ELSA) and a special light sport aircraft (SLSA)? ELSA — An aircraft that does not meet the definition of Part 103; has been assembled from an aircraft kit produc...

Re: C-162 22 kts maximum wind velocity restriction

Dennis, I take your point. I was wondering if you actually called the Michigan Fliers and talked to their folks, especially the lady who is their chief CFI. From the AOPA article they seemed to have really taken a close look at the C-162 and how it would fit into their Ops. From that, and I'm sure y...

Re: Skycatcher PIREP, KSOP (Moore County, NC)

Dennis, AOPA magazine recently recently had an article on the Michigan Flyers club and their experience adding the C-162 to their club, (see http://www.uofmflyers.org). On their site they have some good notes about handling the C-162 from their experiences and I think they're worth looking at. You c...

Re: Skycatcher PIREP, KSOP (Moore County, NC)

After Skunk's review of the Skycatcher at KSOP (Moore Co NC ) I decided to go see myself, as the Skycatcher is on my list of LSA planes to fly. About 2.5 hour drive for my wife and I from just south of CLT where we live in Fort Mill, SC and the weather was a bit iffy. Ceiling was only around 1900 bu...

Has anyone got themselves an LLC to own their LSA?

Just wondering if anyone has established an LLC for themselves to own.buy their LSA instead of doing it as a private sale? I know some folks who have gotten a Delaware company to establish an LLC. They can come up with the name (like N123AA, LLC or Jim and Bob Aviation, LLC) which buys the airplane ...

Re: Why LSAs need to have glass everything?

When I flew for a living the 727 was all round gauges. Staring as a Flight Engineer, all you had was a panel full of dials as you managed the plane's systems. Graduating to the 757/767 the flight engineer's job had become obsolete, all the systems were automated and made 'simple' so that the CA/FO c...

Re: Skycatcher PIREP, KSOP (Moore County, NC)

My flights in a Pipersport are documented here: http://lsaeronaut.blogspot.com/ This is the first airplane I've owned, really unaware of what operating costs would be. LSA has been a GOOD choice. Thanks Dave! Really nice blog...I've been looking at the pictures for quite a while and reading the blo...

Re: Skycatcher PIREP, KSOP (Moore County, NC)

Captain Skunk! Yeah...it was Youngblood. Not having much luck with them communication-wise but wife and I drove up today to check them out. As you say, new operation, but no-one there except fuel guy and an instructor. He told me the a/c was out of town, also that another one coming...maybe. We live...

Re: New Tecnam P2008 Photos

Jake, Looking at the P2008 panel....why all the round gauges when the dual Garmins provide the same info, with redundancy? I do like fuel gauges! Much more than looking for fuel levels in tubes. How accurate are they? Phil Solomon makes a lot of sense and some excellent points. I have been touring t...

Re: Skycatcher PIREP, KSOP (Moore County, NC)

Went to a flight school near Charlotte today to find out about a familiarization flight, possible check-out, and was told their C162 is at the main dealership in NC getting a 100 hour and having the AD complied with.

Re: Skycatcher PIREP, KSOP (Moore County, NC)

Great review! I flown in the Skycatcher before several times but my current school's Skycatcher just is about finishing up it's engine break-in (can't believe it took several months to do the break-in!). Unfortunately, the Skycatcher is now undergoing an annual inspection. Don't know how long it's ...

Re: Brief demo flight in RV-12

Is this aircraft the Rv-12 S-LSA as opposed to the kit version? Did it have all the bells and whistles, avionics, wheel fairings etc? Did it still have removeable wings? Price, as flown? Thanks!! I really like this, from their website:- "After long experience, we’ve found it more useful to thin...
