Just curious to know some of your thoughts on the TP-100 Turbo-Prop offered by PBS? They also make a small Jet engine for Gliders and Light-Sport called the JT-100, which is currently being used on the Sonex.
Thanks!

Re: Hand-Turning Prop/Pre-flight/912-Rotax.
Yes. The oil must be in the tank for the dipstick to register. It may take 20-30 blades to burp my Sky Arrow from cold. So I make a point of checking the oil after each flight, when it only takes 5 to 10 blades to get the burp. Thanks for the reply! :D If I hadn't flown the old C-150 for a few days...

Hand-Turning Prop/Pre-flight/912-Rotax.
Is it an absolute requirement in all aircraft that have the Rotax-912 powerplant to hand-turn the prop during the pre-flight check-list until the engine "burps"/"gurgles", in order to check the oil? Noticed a pilot having to hand-turn the prop up to 5-times before he finally hear...

For those wanting an Icon/Amphibious a/c, but do not want to wait, the SUPER PETREL LS sure is one beautiful a/c imho.
Thanks!

Spin Training.
This question is for the Instructors: Do you feel that spin recovery training should be a requirement for receiving any ticket to be a Pilot in the U.S. again? If a trainer had the BRS feature, I know I would feel a lot more comfortable with spin recovery training. My former Instructor introduced me...

A vert recent and informative video of the Lycoming O-233 that Renegade has been putting through its paces for 5+years now. They actually have footage of the power-plant running.
Thanks!

Re: POWER-PLANTS.
Nothing compared to the sweet sound of the 145HP (I believe it was) Continental in the old 172s I used to fly, though. Those purred. I used to instruct in a 172H, with that Continental O-300 engine. The reason it purred so nicely is that it was a six-cylinder engine. Those always ran smoother than ...

Re: POWER-PLANTS.
The Renegade is certainly on my list of planes to check out. Don't know how they're doing as a company though. Seems that "Doc" Bailey over at Renegade and his team have been quite busy in that 70,000 sq.-ft facility. Here's a few links for you. http://renegadelightsport.com/light-sport-a...

Re: POWER-PLANTS.
http://renegadelightsport.com/renegade-light-sport-aircraft-falcon-specifications.htm Apparently, the O-233 still offers a 2400-tbo, electronic ignition, direct-port fuel injection and is aerobatic approved for LSA aerobatic approved a/c. Note: When looking on Lycoming's site, I found no information...

Re: ACTUAL LSA SALES NUMBERS/LEADERS.
There is little data available on LSA sales. The two associations that have access to such data are GAMA, General Aviation Manufacturers Assoc, and LAMA, Light Aircraft Manufacturers Assoc. Since these associations charge manufacturers to join, the fledgling manufacturers seemigly do not generally ...

Re: POWER-PLANTS.
[http://youtu.be/sMMBJ0sAMPk Apparently does have fuel injection. Thanks! That was 2011. An article about the Kitfox I read least year said they dropped fuel injection, except for experimental builders. Lyco's website doesn't have info on it dated after 2011, either. B Hmmm. Have to see what we can...

Re: POWER-PLANTS.
Last I saw, Lycoming dropped fuel injection from the 233 for the LSA market. Possibly still offered to the experimental crowd, though. This could be dated info, though. I didn't find the sound inside the SportCruiser particularly louder than other GA planes I've flown. A different pitch, yes, but n...
