Re: Hanger Space...no luck
I joined my local EAA chapter and will be getting involved in that soon. Perhaps that network will offer some solutions.

Re: Kansas City (south) Initial interest in new LSA partnership
I guess if I had an instrument rating and 800 hours looking for a partnership or fractional ownership I would be looking at traditional certified aircraft and not LSA. It seems like those options would be less expensive and more akin to cross country IFR flying. Unless E-LSA drives costs way down or...

Re: Hanger Space...no luck
Well I'm not giving up yet. I may buy the plane (CRUZ) and lease it back to the school until I can get a hanger closer to home. Not ideal but they don't put much time on it, maybe 12-14 hrs per month. Yes I'm aware leasebacks are usually bad in 99% of all cases. But it's a way to mitigate my situati...

Hanger Space...no luck
I guess I put the cart before the horse. I went off and completed my flight review driving 100 miles each way to fly with the intent of a check-out and then buy an LSA. If you want a hanger in Colorado anywhere on the front range you will either need to pay a bribe, build your own airport, or sign u...

New Pilot Improvement Plan
I’m getting close to completing my flight review in LSA after getting my PPL 30 years ago. I suspect I will have right at 100 hours total time and my recent transition willl have taken about 15 hours in LSA to become a full up round once again. I look at this as a license to learn. Goal is to buy an...

Re: Flight Instructors are underpaid
Yes, and not just the risks but flying is technically complex, it is not easy to adapt a teaching style to a articular student. A very difficult endeavor requiring patience, an ability to read people etc.

Flight Instructors are underpaid
Flight Instructors don’t make enough. The guy I may be working with charges $50/hr. Has 6000 CFI hours and a couple thousand in LSAs. He’s my age and my sense is he’s quite good. That rate is the norm around here whether LSA or traditional airplane. My massage lady charges $75. The guy who aerated m...

Ground School materials...
Can anyone recommend a ground school program or self study plan to get up to speed? I got my PPL in 1982 and haven’t flown since 1988. So almost starting over but I did 25 yrs Air Force career including non-rated aircrew, oversight of UH-1N Huey program and had some involvement with airspace and GPS...

Re: Any Czech/Piper Sport Cruiser owners out there?
Not an owner but have spent nearly everyday in all various years and serial numbers working for a flight school in Texas that has about fifteen of them. I would recommend getting one from at least 2012 if you’re going to do it, otherwise I believe Tecnam or BRM Aero is the way to go. Maybe, but kee...

It looks like a more recent set of rules went into place where they are charging a small fee per gallon for off airport gas, similar story as the other poster. Solves the problem I guess.

" I did the 3 week $10,000+ course with EAA at Oshkosh. The bad - no certificate.: HappyDan…. are you still 'happy' about the costly adventure? Would you recommend it to others and now what are your plans? Myself, I simply never understood where I went wrong. As an old black-boot Army Major, I ...

I see my local airport (KFLY) has produced a set of bylaws laying down the gauntlet that "no owner shall bring gasoline onto the fold." Period. Dot, No discussion. Do not ask. Etc. Sort of blows the idea of the 30 gallon fuel caddy idea. The issue seems to stem from protecting the profits ...
