If it is a legitimately registered motorglider, and you have a glider rating with a self launch endorsement, you should be OK. The absolute worst that I could see happening is if you rub some FAA guy the wrong way and they try to get the motorglider airworthiness certificate revoked. Not likely, but...

Checking the FAA database, I found 11 750s that have airworthiness certificates. Of those, 3 are AMD factory made SLSA. Of the 3 AMD SLSA 750s, all appear to still be owned by AMD, but the FAA may be slow in updating their records.

Check out the M-Squared Breese SLSAs. It has a 28mph stall speed and a top speed of 74mph. Economy cruise is 42mph. Best of all, it is only $35K, making it one of the cheapest airplane SLSAs.

Re: 4th Class Medical Certificate

What ever happened to the proposed 4th class medical and what was it all about? Haven't heard anything about it, so I assume that it has died with the advent of the sportpilot/drivers license medical. Personally, I don't think that any "4th class" medical is a good idea, unless it is to r...

Congrats, Jerry!

IIRC, Van came in pretty close to his $50-55K estimate. I think the total added up to $58K or $59K including everything but paint.

Re: Super Cub

I don't think there is ANY SLSA that will do what Cubcrafters Super Cub will do... Part of that is due to the fact that it has 50% more horsepower than ANY SLSA out there. Your comparing a 180hp plane with 100hp planes of the same gross weight. The problem I see is the useful load. They are at the ...

One question though. Do you have a U.S. drivers license? Without a driver's license from the United States, my bet is that you will have to get a class 3 medical.

A quick note about the Jabiru. The earlier 80hp Jabiru 2200s were suspected of not putting out their rated hp. Appearantly this has been corrected in more recent additions. It appears that zenith is starting to lean more toward Jabiru engines for their 601XL and STOL 750. The dirty little secret on ...

If you could get a little time in a RV-6 or grumman yankee you'd be really prepared. Yankee is not aerobatic but is pretty quick handling... These are two of the planes I am considering getting dual training in, not for aerobatic purposes, but for insurance reasons. After talking with an insurance ...

With the availabilty of the Rotax 912ULS and Jabiru 3300 (as well as other engines like the UL260i), I just don't see the market for the 0-200 and 0-233 for anyone other that those manufacturers that want a more traditional aircraft engine in there planes. Paying the same or more for an engine that ...

I am going to build a Sonex. It is stressed for aerobatics (and does a pretty good job at it, BTW). I want to get aerobatic training before doing in aerobatics in it, however. Right now, I am getting my workshop together and doing some traveling for work. I will start building in December.

Tailwheel/Aerobatic training in a non-LSA

Does anyone know if a Sport Pilot can get their tailwheel endorsement and/or receive aerobatic training in a non-lsa. I am not so much concerned about the tailwheel training with all of the cubs, champs, T-crafts, etc available. However, I can't find any instructors using 2 place aerobatic LSAs. I w...

Another thing to look for is the market share the plane has and the number already operating in the U.S. If Flight Design goes out of business tommorow, there are more than enough CTSWs and CTLSs in the US so that some third party could make a nice business providing parts for the plane. This is sim...

It seems to be a policy that was more plane centered than pilot centered. The focus appears to be to lower the production, purchase, and maintance costs for light aircraft, essentially like having a Light Sport Aircraft regulation class but not a Sport Pilot License class.
