I'm in St. Pete / Treasure Island...yeah I saw the fantasy of flight thing from the highway on my way to st. pete from sanford (took the auto train)...needless to say the connie and the dc-3 sitting in the field caught my attention...I was too busy looking at the connie to pay attention to the sign ...

So I'm in Florida until Monday for a vintage VW show...anyone know any cool aviation stuff to do down here?

I had the same problem. Turned out to be a loose wire on the rectifier / regulator. Caused me to scrub the first attempt at the flying portion of my checkride.

I've read Stick and Rudder...great book. I actually recommended it to someone on here last week I think. Maybe I should thumb through and see if I can get some more insight.

Would an aircraft that requires only slight rudder pressure during maneuvers have more rudder authority during a spin than say one that requires lots of rudder during normal operations? Just somethin that popped in my head at work today...

Thanks Arion! Next step is buying my own plane. That lightning you have is sweet, I would love something like that. I'm going to be going the kit plane or vintage route though.

I agree with studying it all because it will help you understand the big picture. Aviation is lifelong classroom and trying to take shortcuts may be detrimental. As far as other books, I would definitely get the flight maneuvers, test prep, and far/aim...basically, you might want to consider getting...

Ok, update time. So as I posted in my re-introduction I've been gone for a while and left the forum right before my checkride. Well I'm pleased to announce that I successfully passed! Although it was back in the end of September '09 still thought you should know. It took three tries to get it done.....
