Flying to OSH via Minneapolis Minnesota?
We are trying to put together a Flight Design CT owners group flight to Airventure out of Air Lake KLVN. All airplanes would of course be welcome to join us. More information at http://www.ctflyer.com/viewtopic.php?t=2024

I hope to get to Oshkosh this year, but the details are still up in the air. I might fly in with my brother in his Beech Debonair or we might buy/borrow a camper to make the trip. I would really like to see a Thatcher CX4 as I have been giving some thought to building one. I haven't been to Oshkosh since 2006 and I'm starting to go through serious withdrawal.

That's great! The only thing being built at my airport is cobwebs. I fell in love with the CX4 after the there was an article on it in the EAA magazine.flyboy2007 wrote:There are three people at my airport building the cx4.
My brother and I bought a 22 ft. motorhome yesterday, so if things work out we will be "flying" low and slow to Oshkosh. At least it will allow us to buy all kinds of crap to take home.
Light Sport Mall at Oshkosh
With reference to the Light Sport Mall at Oshkosh, I'd like to hear more. The "official" word I got from the EAA was they aren't sponsering a mall this year, but LAMA might have something similar. Anybody know more about that?
Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus(or at least an LSA Mall
I checked with Dan Johnson, and he assured me there is a large LSA area set up. He even sent me the diagram.
Enter the Main gate, and turn left. Spaces 33-37 for the Mall.
Look forward to seeing you there.

That will be great. Last year the LSA Mall was well off the beaten path.scottj wrote:I checked with Dan Johnson, and he assured me there is a large LSA area set up. He even sent me the diagram.

P2006
I may go to OSH just to harass the Birminghams about the dearth of Rotax-trained mechanics. People aren't going to buy a plane like the P2006 if their local A & P can't work on it because he/she doesn't have Rotax certification. There are only two shops in my whole state qualified to work on the Rotax 912, and some of the neighboring states have none. If Tecnam wants to sell P2006s in the U.S. they're going to have to do something about Rotax service, and if they do make a commitment to expand the available network of such service centers, this would be good for the whole SLSA industry.
Yep, this is something that all of the "top tier" manufacturers need to step up to, although "top tier" doesn't necessarily mean well capitalized. I also think ROTAX should be helping this along as they are really the major beneficiaries of more LSAs sold.slsaowner wrote:I may go to OSH just to harass the Birminghams about the dearth of Rotax-trained mechanics.
