Took a trip to Goodspeed Airport Today

Fly-Ins are excuses for pilots to go somewhere and eat. Airplanes. Food. What else could you ask for? Know of an upcoming fly-in? A great $100 hamburger? Don't keep it a secret. Share it here!

Took a trip to Goodspeed Airport Today

Post by rcpilot »

Made my second trip today to Goodspeed airport(42B) in East Haddam, CT. Goodspeed is right along the Connecticut River. Runways 14/32. Winds were favoring 14 today and it's an interesting approach over high power lines and a draw bridge. They have a landing fee but no one is there to collect it so they have envelopes and a deposit box. There are a few restaurants within walking distance. Higher Grounds was recommended to me by a co-worker. They have local sourced, organic food. They do takeout and they have both indoor and outdoor seating. I wonder if the name has anything to do with the fact that it's a .8 of a mile uphill walk to get there(hey you work up an appetite). I met a former classmate there today who flew in from SFZ. We enjoyed a tasty breakfast.
