GPS Calendar Rollover

Tonight at 2359 GMT, the Global Positionong System went through its once-every-20-years calendar rollover. This means that many older GPS receivers (including those in some planes) may require a software patch to operate properly. I just checked both my Electronic Flight Bags. WingX on my iPad Pro functions properly, but the Android version on my Samsung Galaxy Note 9 does not. Be sure to preflight your avionics carefully before embarking on any flight that requires GPS!

Thanks for the heads-up Paul. My iPhone and iPad are working properly as is my Stratux with G-Mouse IPX6. Don't know about the GPS units in the rental planes I fly.

The advisory on Garmin's website explains that while 'global positioning' capability is not affected, the rollover can mess with date and time. I'll need to get a software patch for my TomTom portable car unit.
