Future of LSA industry?

Talk about airplanes! At last count, there are 39 (and growing) FAA certificated S-LSA (special light sport aircraft). These are factory-built ready to fly airplanes. If you can't afford a factory-built LSA, consider buying an E-LSA kit (experimental LSA - up to 99% complete).

Hey, I'm just an ol' private pilot returning to the skies operating as a Sport Pilot. I bought an Ercoupe last September and am having a ball. So, I keep reading about these new planes and see they are affordable and reliable. I am not interested in the Cessna Skycatcher (Groundcatcher?) at all. Not just the test flight problems (2 crashes out of 3 planes), but also the fact that the production runs will be of Chinese manufacturer.

So, this spring/summer I plan to test fly both the high wing Tecnam (Eaglet or a predecessor) and the Flight Design planes. There is a dealer for each line within a half hour of where I base the 'Coupe. I have already flown the Tecnam Sierra as a low wing comparison, and my also seek out the Gobosh and Evektor models as well.

Not real sure if I want to upgrade to "new"er right now, but figure I will start to investigate.

Advantage of new vs. my existing Ercoupe: shiny, faster, more useful load, less chance of needing repairs.

Disadvanage: Payment book as opposed to having no payments.
