Only $389,000 for Icon A5

Talk about airplanes! At last count, there are 39 (and growing) FAA certificated S-LSA (special light sport aircraft). These are factory-built ready to fly airplanes. If you can't afford a factory-built LSA, consider buying an E-LSA kit (experimental LSA - up to 99% complete).

It would be a fun plane to own if you want to spend almost $400,000 for a toy.

Living in Florida it’s almost a requirement to have a seaplane, you can’t throw a rock without hitting a body of water here. But as TimTaylor stated, $400K is a bit much for a toy.

It really is a beautiful aircraft with some nice features but I just don’t see how they arrived at that price point.

Yeah I was wondering myself about that as well, but ultimately , the concept of “fair price” is not absolute - things are worth as much as people are willing to pay for them and they figured there will be enough rich people willing to pay that much for their plane and keeping their assembly lines busy ...
In other words, we are not even close to their target demographics ...

I think $400,000 would be a fair price for some people. If you have more money than you can possibly spend, why not?
