Has anyone experienced a canopy opening mid flight? does it has a detrimental effects on the aircraft control?

Any advise on this would be appreciated..

Regards,

You should contact Bill Canino at SportAir and ask - I vaguely remember him mentioning that it would just be a noisy non event but you may want to confirm.

Never happened to me and I am not sure how it would happen since it is positively self locking on S4 at the top of the canopy and handles/locks on both sides of the canopy are there just to immobilize it so it doesn’t rattle.

I had the latch fail on my tip up canopy on my RV12, it was a non event video below of the flight. Remember first rule fly the plane.
