Skyranger knowledge & experience?

Well, I chickened out. The surface winds are just too brutal to the west.

I hangared it in Kansas, and I’ll go back and get it when the winds are less vicious, and I’ve got more time.

On a regular basis wise folks like yourself help reinforce the old adage that "There are bold pilots and there are old pilots, but there are darn few old, bold pilots." Kudos to you.

Any updates? Is it safely tucked away in a hangar?

Also, I lost track of the Corbin adventure. I've done a cursory search of the forum but can't seem to find anything after it made it to Tucson.

I left the Skyranger tucked away in a hangar in eastern Kansas. I got tired of waiting for the weather to improve. I hope to get it back to California in the near future.

I sold the Corben Baby Ace. It took 18 months to get it repaired, then I moved to northern California. I didn’t think it would be useful here, and I wanted an enclosed two-seater with more power, hence the Skyranger.

Finally home! Really fun three day trip, with only a few moments of terror. I really enjoyed taking off half an hour before sunrise, and was happy to get on the ground when the turbulence kicked up across Nebraska, Wyoming, and especially Tahoe.

Looking forward to the next adventure!

Glad to hear you're home safe. I know exactly what you mean when you say "with only moments of terror!" And those "pre-dawn" takeoffs are incredibly peaceful. It's fun to watch the sun rise in the air...

10 months,4k rpm 4gph at 3000ft.912 80hp. i just have to get rfi out of the headset from strobes. First Ill isolate the power switch w fiber /nylon washers,and or get the power feed on a separate bus. Ill get it by october ill install a cabin water heater and a temp gauge. i bought the plane wo a test ride.i wanted it bad . It was what I was looking for-ELSA Tri gear 912 [happy to get the 80 hp,now i can burn 87octane pump gas]I took the 2 day LSRI course to do my own annual condition inspections.Had 207 hrs now 265hrs. Runs very well.tons of info on any rotax engines.I live near Milwaukee,wi

RE; Weight and balance 95% of your flying u will be the sole occupant.And when u do fly w a passenger find a lighter 1. I take off at 5000rpm=700fpm [solo]
