LSA with the highest Useful Load?

Talk about airplanes! At last count, there are 39 (and growing) FAA certificated S-LSA (special light sport aircraft). These are factory-built ready to fly airplanes. If you can't afford a factory-built LSA, consider buying an E-LSA kit (experimental LSA - up to 99% complete).

I just saw your thread and happened to stumble upon this.

One day I'll be in the market, but not today.

Here's another page of images and info on the SportCruiser. But now that I see the price, I'll just back away from the suggestion.

Ran across this, which seems more reasonable.

The Sport Hornet.

Finally, a fully certified Special – Light Sport Aircraft (S-LSA) that is fun, functional and affordable. With a “fly-it-away” price that begins at under $50,000, you can realize your dream of owning an airplane that will take you anywhere at over 100 knots for under $15 per hour of direct operating cost. For even more savings, and the thrill of assembling your own airplane, check out the E-LSA version of the Sport Hornet. Go from delivery to “in the air” for well under $40,000 in less than three weeks.

I figured 6.5 lbs per gallon of fuel X 18 gallon capacity = 117 Lbs.

They list a useful load of 690 Lbs. - 117 Lbs. Fuel = 573 Lbs. Full Fuel Useful Load.

Their website explains the way it's built and the decisions they made in choosing it's materials and it seems impressive to a n00b.

Here's a link to a Sport Pilot Talk thread on the Sport Hornet.

And finally, here's some video. It's one of the craft mentioned in Lightsport Aircraft Video Magazine Issue 32

Skylark LSA - Usefule Load 670#

Post by Skyview Aviation »

We are a dealer for the Skylark LSA and the Breezer LSA, both of which have more useful load than any other LSAs I've been able to find.

The Skylark has an empty weight of 648#, holds 24 gals fuel, and has a gross of 1320. This leaves a full-fuel payload of 528#.

The Breezer has an empty weight of 700#, holds 18 gals fuel, and has a gross of 1320. This leaves a full-fuel payload of 512#.
