Rental Finder Question

Sport aviation is growing rapidly. But the new sport pilot / light-sport aircraft rules are still a mystery to many flight schools and instructors. To locate a flight school offering sport pilot training and/or light-sport aircraft rentals, click on the "Flight School And Rental Finder" tab above. This is a great place to share ideas on learning to fly, flight schools, costs and anything else related to training.

Rental Finder Question

Post by amster105 »

Hi -

I'm going to be visiting Florida later this month and was looking to see if there were LSAs around to rent for some sight-seeing while I'm there.

I tried looking at the Rental Finder Map here on SPT, however half of the links seem to be dead.
How and how often (if at all) does this typically get updated?

I found another similar list on ByDanJohnson's website, however that seems quite out of date too.
Alternatively does anyone know of a better list to use?

Thanks!

If you'll be in central Florida you might check with First Landings. They're in Apopka at X04

I agree that the rental finder on this site has become hopelessly outdated. When LSA was brand new, it was assumed that FBOs would embrace the concept enthusiastically, and be in it for the long haul. Unfortunately, the past dozen years have shown us that this is not a stable industry, and our volunteer staff of one (me!) has just not been able to keep up with the acquisitions and dispositions of LSAs, abandonment of the segment by many major players, and outright bankruptcies of too many undercapitalized businesses. So the best our members can do, when looking for an LSA in a given area, is to put out a call here and hope one of your felow users can point you in the right direction.
