Re: Buying an airplane

Yes, good luck. A chief is a sweet little aircraft. I almost bought a nicely restored one - but ended up with my Ercoupe instead.

Love that line, Paul, "Hail it the Chief."

Re: New Sport Plane on line in NC

I got to fly one about a year and a half ago (was considering the purchase of a used 2000) and were up for nearly an hour. We did all the basic maneuvers, stalls and two landings. I was confident that another hour with a CFI, focusing on landings, and I would feel confident to go it alone. It handle...

Re: How much time?

6.5 hours to Solo (in a Cherokee 140) 44 hours to check ride (in a Citabria) for Private Pilot ticket. I had three instructors and (mainly) three aircraft during my training. Much of my XC was in a Piper Colt. I also had a couple hours in a J3 Cub, a Commanche and a SkyMaster and had spin training i...

Re: Fast Eddie & Kool Karen's Excellent (planned) Page Adven

Having a backup option never hurts. I don't fly very far from "home" and do rely on the charts on my iPad (w/ iPhone as backup) using ForeFlight - but I also have the local and nearby charts on board. That paper may be out of date, but can be a great backup for the VFR flying I do. I envy ...

Welcome aboard and CONGRATULATIONS, PILOT!

Flying to "places" - even nearby places - is a lot of fun. It also helps you to learn (and that's what being a pilot is all about).

The owner of this site posted a few months ago wanting to sell it due to lack of time to maintain it properly. I believe he said it made a small amount of money at that time. You can probably fine the post some where. Ron I believe that thread has been removed. I had posted in it and actually recei...

I've never flown a Sportstar but always thought they were a nice-looking aircraft. Might be a bit slower than some others, but certainly faster than my Ercoupe. But, maybe, not as stable - if those crash numbers are right. That's a large percentage of the fleet. There are two currently for sale on B...

Oops, sorry. I should have identified 0W3 as Harford County Airport. Hopefully RunwayFinder will be back. I've been using AirNav.com for airport info - easy lookup and comprehensive info. Yes, I'd certainly like to swap rides. I'm planning some upgrades to my 'Coupe and it may be "in the shop&q...

Wow! Congratulations on the new plane, Dave. Great aircraft - and I am just a bit envious. You are also keeping it at a great little airport. I have been in there a few times with my Ercoupe, meeting up with a friend who flies down from Poughkeepsie for lunch. I love your airport and if I lived in t...

CONGRATULATIONS, Fooey. A wonderful day and accomplishment, indeed.

I, too, was having fun in my Ercoupe yesterday evening. But no matter how great my flight was - it is pale in comparison to your first solo. WTG.

It was, indeed, a wonderful day for a fall picnic and fly-in at Bay Bridge Airport. It was a very well attended event and the Young Eagles Program introduced the Wonders of Flight to about two dozen youngsters. I flew down in my Ercoupe with a buddy of mine who was interested in the Tecnam airplanes...
