How many S-LSA have been spin tested?

Here is a link to John and Martha King's website, where they point out that the Skycathcher has been spin-tested, and that ASTM standards do not require S-LSA to undergo spin testing: http://johnandmartha.kingschools.com/2009/05/05/skycatcher-spin-accidents%E2%80%94hurray-for-cessnas/ I wonder how m...

Sorry I didn't make my point more clear. I was referring to Thorp's implication that Tom's technique of flying approaches in general with the throttle closed contributed to the incident. He seemed to be saying that if some throttle had been used during the approach the whole thing might have been a...

it is tom not john if you are talking about the dunham brothers. i'm thinking it is john schautenheimer who has been doing checkouts out of carson city, for a few years. the stats fit him and the flying teaching style fit him as well. It was not John S. I have met him and have flown with him before...

Just one more statement on this and I'm going to let it go. There are three sides to this story, Thorp's, Tom's and the FAA narrative. I heard Tom's side, but it was a private conversation and I'm going to have to assume it was told to me in confidence. Anyone reading Thorp's version should just be...

Hey guys, don't you think this has gotten a little out of hand. One guy bought a CT, had a bad experience and doesn't like it. Other people love their CT's. No one should ever make a decision about whether to buy an aircraft or form an opinion about an aircraft just on what some people have to say ...

My experience buying a new CTSW

I caught a 630AM flight for Reno and arrived at the CT showroom/hangar about 10AM. Having bought the brand new plane sight unseen, I was anxious to see her. All the more so because I had postponed my arrival twice alredy: once due to bad weather and another time when the dealer said the avionics wer...

John, Thanks for the kind words, but truthfully I don't like having posted what I have. I would prefer that the forum administrator would stop the personal attacks against Ed, the posting of his personal information, and the unjustified rants. All from a person who has done his best to stay anonymo...

revised factual statistics for the CTSW

Below are both the Accident and Incident statistics for the CTSW since 2005, current as of July 2009. Note that the difficult handling characteristics of this plane have continued to bite pilots who were trained to fly a standard catagory aircraft. The CTSW is somewhere in between an Ultralight and ...

Re: Difficult to fly - NO, just different

If the CT is so difficult to fly why is it the number one selling light sport in the world? (and don't give me that Remos crap - those figures are not sold to customer airplanes) I think the "proof is in the pudding". It's certainly different to fly then a 172. It takes different techniqu...

just the facts

As usual, CharlieT makes a lot of phony claims that are designed to fool the unwary or ignorant. He has to date totatlly denied that he owns a 2005 CT, and yet the FAA aircraft registration records clearly show that it was constructed in early 2005. Intead, he tries to pass off his plane as an "...

You might try calling FD USA at 860-963-7272 since they will likely stock any replacement parts. The flap control unit is a circuit board located behind the instrument panel, near the firewall. My flap control switch has 5 positions: -6, 0, 15, 30, 40. I have a CTSW, but there may be a difference on...
