I think amphibious is going to make it less popular, not more. Most people don't care that much about landing on water. To me it makes sense only if you can get the weight low enough that the extra 90lb in the 1430lb useful of the amphibious LSA can be mostly translated to useful load. IMO, of cours...

I bought one right away, but the school didn't provide one other than rental (and I don't like other peoples' sweat on me, lol), and I knew I was going to stick with flying. When you do buy, get the best you can reasonably afford, it makes a real difference. I ended up with a Lightspeed Zulu. ______...

Re: Tecnam

I see that about 12% of the U.S.-registered Sierras (P2002s) have crashed so far, but only a couple of the high-wing Tecnams have been involved in accidents. I did the last 20 in the Tecnam at Lockwood Aviation in Sebring FL a few weeks ago (highly recommend them, BTW). If anybody knows of some LSAs for rent in the ATL area besides the Z...

I just got my sport pilot ticket from Lockwood Aviation in a P92 Echo Super, having a previous 20hrs in a Zodiac 601XL. I *loved* the Echo; very stable and predictable, easy to fly. Much less "twitchy" than the Zodiac, without feeling heavy or sluggish in any way. I wish there was one to ...
