All training from Sport CFI now counts towards higher ratings
I think I've read this correctly from the Federal Register dated June 27, 2018: (Please correct me if I'm wrong)
Allows all training received from a sport pilot instructor to be cred- ited towards a higher certificate or rating.
This is good news right!!!???

Re: Is sport aviation dying
Most of my flight time (300hrs) is in the C172, and I've flown the Remos GX, Allegro, Piper Sportcruiser. The Sportstar felt not much different than the piper archer and Cessna 172s that I've flown. I also liked the visibility with the canopy and the basic instrumentation.

Is sport aviation dying?
It may be too early with the recent basic med passage, but do you guys/gals see a decline in folks pursuing sport pilot training as a result of the new rules?

FAA Forecast: What do you think
Text size: A A A FAA Forecast Mixed For GA By Mary Grady The FAA this week released its annual aviation forecast for the next 20 years, predicting growth for the turbine and rotorcraft fleets but downturns in sales of most fixed-wing piston airplanes. The business jet market grew in 2014 for the fir...

Sport NPRM
Hello. Is this move (NPRM) to have dual hours count from Sport CFI's dead in the water??? It appears a number of other things have been placed on the FAA's priority list.

Re: FAA Announcement RUMORS
What ever happened to the other NPRM addressing hours counting from a CFI-Sport counting towards higher ratings? Is it dead in the water?

Re: PPA and CFI-SPs
I think you should move forward with pursuing the rating due to the following reasoning: (1) Though many won't admit it, the cost of the sport pilot license is significantly less than the private pilot (you could market this fact hard to prospective students) (2) It takes a shorter time to obtain th...

Re: CFI-S versus CFI
I think you misunderstood me; my post was not about the sport pilot rating but instruction from a sport cfi not counting towards the dual hour requirement for the private pilot rating.

Re: CFI-S versus CFI
Not to beat a dead horse, but if a student obtains a sport license at 20 hrs and adds 20 hrs of dual training needed for the private (that they will have to repeat as a consequence of training with a CFI-Sport) along with 5 additional solo hrs needed to compensate for the higher solo times for the p...

New LSA on the flightline in Raleigh NC
For those of you in the North Carolina (Raleigh) area, Flightgest at RDU just added a Dynamic LSA WT-9 to their fleet. I'm being blessed with the opportunity to promote the proposed program and to instruct once I obtain the CFI-Sport. We are looking to start a sport and private pilot ground school i...
