I learned to fly in a Remos with dual throttles. And flew with my right hand. Because thats what I read in Bill Kirschers book, and thats what fighter pilots do. "You fly a stick with your right hand, and a yoke with your left." Well, when I switched aircraft. Had to use a ceter throttle, ...

Sailing and flying, sounds like you know how to have fun....... I'm jealous. I just got my sport pilot ticket in Sept. and have been flying(renting) a Remos(PIC) and a Diamond 20(dual). Sounds like you already know about small planes, I would take a flight in an LSA and see if you like it. The Remos...

You need to train in a Remos, it has the most payload capacity of the LSA's. I also trained in Denton, my instructor, Grant Bramby weighed 170, but there were a few female CFI's that weighed a lot less. It is possible to get your sport pilot ticket, even if your a big guy. Talk to some of the CFI's ...

You'll like the Remos. The controls are very responsive. They use aluminum rods instead of cables for the controls, almost too responsive at first. But you get use to it.

Have fun.

cool video. Sure looks like a nice slow desent. I am not an explosives expert, but I would tend to think that 5 gallons of 100LL would contain more explosive energy than a little rocket. So I am not buying into the notion that a fire figher wouldn;t want to approach your airplane because of your lit...

About 8 months ago in Dallas, A CFI and a student were killed in a Tecnam. A control surface failure. It appears that a mechanic left a large flashlight in the tail. This became wedged in with the elevator in the down postion. A BRS would have saved them, better to have it and never use it. There co...

Get the gleim test prep cd, I used it. Study mode and test mode. The written is a piece of cake. Did the 40 questions in about 20 minutes. Mainly rules and regs. and airspace, some fundamental aero principles. and couple about charts and navigation.

I mean how much can you cover in 40 questions.

Well, I need to do something. I did my 1st solo cross country last sunday, and got a little lost. Missed my second waypoint (turn point) and instead of circling like the book said and figuring out my current position, I kept on flying and looking for it. Got about 10 miles off course. Thank god my 3...

Thanks for the replies, I haven't heard of that brand. I will check it out. The 496 is a little pricey, and the screen is just a touch smaller than the aera. we have one at our school, that is available for rental. I need to have my instructor show me how to use that unit, and all the ins and outs o...

GPS ??? Garmin or Bendix

Hello, I have just completed my 1st dual cross country. I am learning the art of pilotage and dead reckoning. While that is necassary to know. I want to use a GPS for navigation. I have narrowed it down to the Garmin aera 500 and the Bendix AV8OR handheld. These two are in my price range. Does anyon...

Thanks for all the kind words, guys. I'm kinda of excited about the solo cross country. I am ready to check out some other airports, and get my 1st $100 hamburger. My instructor says Stephenville has some great BBQ about a half mile from the field. I am trying to fly, 3 times a week. On Fridays, Sat...

Solo'd today 7-18-10

Hi guys, was able to get my 1st solo today.......... Yeah! A slow day at the airport, the controllers weren't going crazy with instructions, and the winds were right down the runway at 4kts. I was a little restless last night, because my instructor said he wanted me to solo when we flew yesterday. B...
