Re: Will the wife fly with you?? Is a 2 seater overkill for me?
My wife will fly with me, but there has to be a reason and a destination. Saving two hours by flying instead of driving to visit my Mom? Check! Flying from Georgia to Michigan to visit her Mom? Check! Flying in to a small airport for lunch? Check! Flying "around the patch" on a beautiful ...

Re: Plane leaking fuel and frustrated
I have owned 9 or 10 planes since 1974. Unless you are buying for business purposes, don't try to "justify" it. You will usually be disappointed. I did luck out with a C-206 I bought in 1983 for $37K and sold run out in 2002 for $117K. There are probably many owners during those years that...

Re: Have You Ever Considered Quitting Flying
I have been flying for almost 52 years Most of that in Alaska where I lived most of my adult life. From age 18 to age 60. Now 72. Currently we live on a residential airpark in Oregon. Hangar attached to house. Have owned 9 airplanes. Life is good. Although I know the time will come, it's not here ye...

Dave - agree. For sure these are not "one size fits all' situations.

Re: My Biggest Pet Peeve: Pattern Cyclers Who...
Agree with Andy. At uncontrolled airports with more than one runway, taxi transmissions are mostly unnecessary. Another call not really necessary at a single runway airport is stating "clear of the active". Unless the runway is 3 miles long, arriving traffic can see the runway is clear. Al...

Re: Adventure iFly GPS
I've had the iFly 740 for some time now. No problems. Love it! As I did the 720 and 700 before. John, have you ever had an opportunity to compare the IFly 740 screen vs Android tablet vs IPad? Are you a beta tester? I am not a beta tester and have not compared it to android. From my observation it ...

I've had Telex Stratus 50's for 6-7 years and love them. A couple years ago I got a Lightspeed Zulu.2 and have been disappointed with it.

Don't over think it. Just trim to fly hands off. No matter what phase of flight you are in.

Re: E10 Unleaded Auto-Gas: My Big Mistake as LSA Owner!
How do the Chinese--and Harbor Freight--both make money at that give-away price? I haven't a clue. Ask again in a year when that tool has become an inert paperweight. ;) When I was building my Sonex I went through three HF pneumatic rivet guns before giving up and buying a quality one. The HF stuff...

Re: New Aero Shell Sport Plus 4
I have heard it is because some installations placed the oil tank too high. But, I don't know for certain.
I pull through a couple of times, mostly because that is what I have been doing for 50 years now.

I can't tell the orientation of the runway but if he was taking off at 4:00 p.m. and into the sun he may have had trouble seeing the trees??
Just a possibility.
