Re: Thoughts on this P92 for sale?
I was thinking for a club or group ownership. If it were 2000 hours and no 12 year limit then another 500 hours would be a decent amount of time to get an engine fund going. So are LSA rules not the same as in privately operated certificated aircraft in that you can go over TBO as long as everything...

Thoughts on this P92 for sale?
https://flightaware.com/resources/registration/N72TE https://www.controller.com/listings/aircraft/for-sale/1458025/2006-tecnam-p92-echo-super?dlr=1&pcid=13511&if=1 Seems like this has been up there on controller.com for years. Not sure if this 912ULS's TBO is 1500 or 2000, - thought that it ...

Re: New medical law mrans cheap LSA's?
I am 35 , working on my private and have a 3rd class medical, but may consider buying an LSA. I'd rather fly something newer that is faster and climbs quicker with a better useful load than a Cessna 150. As the price of lightly used LSAs comes down to around 50k ... you might be able to justify the ...

Re: Possible to make a living as a CFI or even a Sport CFI?
Bill, many thanks for your kind words. Howard, I'm afraid your experience is more typical than not. In a world where future airline pilots have to accumulate 1500 hours of flight experience just to be hired, and with FAA policies that allow hours sitting in the right seat if a 150 watching students...

Re: Need a new Handheld Icom or Vertex or Sportys
I think the ICOM A-14 is going to be the easiest/simplest.
Also has a big Li Ion battery.
For basic COM only, I think the A-14 is the way to go.

How about a Bush cat? The price is right.
edit- er, nevermind, looks like you are not looking at LSAs anymore?

Re: Appalachian Outlaws
I wonder what an LSA glider would be? Googling "LSA Glider" basically yields LSA gliders with motors.

Re: Appalachian Outlaws
It's interesting that an SLSA could be used for compensation towing gliders.
I assume you'd still need to be a Commercial pilot to get paid, but you could do so in an LSA?

How do you handle mogas from a GAS station?
Let's say you can get 91 ethanol free (I can, thank you Vermont) . How do you handle this fuel from dispensing to entering into your aircraft's fuel tanks? Do you just fill it up in red containers and pour it into your aircraft? Do you filter it? Do you test it for water contamination aside from fue...

Re: Gleim study online material accuracy?
thanks again I thought it was interesting that the test material is not necessarily relevant to a sport pilot, but again that isn't the point (for practical purposes). As far as Gleim goes, I've found them really fast , reasonable and helpful. I asked them to "reset" the final tests becaus...

Backup COMM or Nav/Comm?
I want a handheld backup radio - ICOMM makes what I can see is the cheapest LiIon IC-A14 unit out there and it's about $215 . If I have an Ipad for GPS navigation, is there any reason you can think that I'd need backup navigation on the radio as well? It isn't so much that I don't want to pay more b...

Re: Off topic for LSA - medxpress busted?
thanks happydan I figured out the problem with the online 8500-8 form. I had to click on "Account" -> "My account", then re-submit your name. It wants to auto fill this info, but for some reason it couldn't find it, even though it was already there. Re-submitting it seemed to fix...
