Re: Mobile Airports
I've been to St. Elmo - there's not much going on at the field beside cheaper gas. If you have a mechanical issue, it's going to be hard to get help (ask me how I know!) also, if you want to get a ride to town, it's probably going to be $45 bucks for a taxi and you're not going to get a rental at th...

Re: New Sport Training Website
Well, after originally purchasing an aircraft and starting up efforts to offer sport pilot training west of Austin, TX, and then finding out that the aircraft was not LSA eligible, I finally have a new aircraft to use. We will be offering Sport Pilot training in the Central Texas area in our Taylor...

If I have to choose one, it's idle it in, however, different techniques are more appropriate in different situations.

Re: How slow can a 65hp LSA go? What about 50hp?
The Taylorcraft BC12D that I flew last year could do 95 mph on it's 65 hp engine. The Cub I fly down in Boerne on a regular basis does well to reach 70 mph on the same hp.

Re: Hull value for 1946 Champ
I'm in the process of buying renter's insurance and I'd like some feedback from the experts on typical value for a Champ, which is what I'm training in. When buying insurance is it prudent to insure for a "retail" amount or just for the hull value (which I assume is the "totaled"...

Naviator is my favorite, but I have Avare loaded as well in case I'm ever in a pinch on the subscription.

Re: Had a rough flight lesson today. Got a few questions.
First off, I don't think my CFI is a kind of guy that would take advantage of me. He is really a nice guy but kept reminding me more than he should to keep flying the airplane properly. Second, the reason why we had a different and a shorter cross country is because my CFI had another student after...

Re: Should I push myself harder (fly more often per week)?
You'll probably learn faster if you fly at least twice a week. I'd try three flights and see if it's too much, or if instead, you make good progress. My once a week students learn more than twice as slow most of the time.

Re: sport training syllabusfor a private instructor? please
Well, Ryan, those are the main differences, but not the only ones. Don't forget that PP candidates also get trained in VOR navigation, have a long XC, do steep turns to 60 degrees of bank, have to recover from unusual attitudes, are required to get radio comm training, and need airspace training to...
