Re: Student pilot certifiacte changes
SportPilot, unfortunately no. Will be flying the school's 172M. Fortunately one of our friends has one
that I fly in regularly. I actually sold my Lightning 3 years ago due to not using it because of work.
Too good of an airplane to have sitting in a hangar.

Re: Student pilot certifiacte changes
Gene, I'm sure someone will point out some exception, but once you are a Sport Pilot, your student certificate is no longer valid. You are now a Sport Pilot upgrading to a Private certificate. You will, of course, need a 3rd class medical to solo (under CFI supervision) anything other than an LSA o...

Thank you Dr. Paul and SportPilot. Just trying to make sure that I have all that I

Re: SportCruiser opinions
I know this is an old post, but I did the majority of my Sport Pilot training in a Sport Cruiser. N187SF at the now defunct Atlanta Sport Flight. Ended up transitioning to a Remos G3-600 and later my own Arion Lightning. Now I am back in the market and training for upgrade to Private. Still what a m...

Re: Student pilot certifiacte changes
SportPilot, That is what I am trying to understand. While I am a Sport Pilot, I am training to upgrade to Private. If I am understanding this correctly, I will NOT need a Student Certificate. My Sport Pilot Certificate covers this. Am I understanding this correctly? Thank you for your comments.

Re: Student pilot certifiacte changes
So a quick question. How does this rule affect Sport Pilots who are now working on their upgrade to
Private? Will I be required to obtain a new Student Certificate or does my Sport Pilot Certificate cover
me?

Re: Insurance Grumblings
I have insurance through Falcon too. Britt Paulk or should I say WAS with them as they are exiting the aviation insurance business according the letter I received. In turn Falcon quoted me from another agency a quote of $2005.00/year. That is a $500 increase. I flew 88hrs last year and no claims. Ai...

Re: N535TA problem correction status
I own and fly an EAB Arion Lightning. A really nice low wing with fun flying characteristics. It can be a handful if you have not had proper transition training. Of the recommended 10hrs of transition training 50% was spent on approach and landing. My aircraft has an approach speed of 52kts whether ...

Re: aircraft engines or planes without a mixture control kno
The Bing on my Jab 3300 is good to about 5000' after that it runs rich. I had a Hackman mixture control put on
it and it made a world of difference in both the GPH and in EGT/CHTs. Coming back from Arizona at 9500'
I averaged 3.8gph and 120kts at 75% throttle.
