Is there another less busy airport nearby to practice touch n go's? Your instructor could give you an endorsement to fly solo to that airport to practice. I think less time between practice will help. Your brain will eventually start to process visual clues, that you won't be aware of, as to when t...

Learning Plateus and How to Overcome them
Have any of you got stuck in a learning plateau? How did you overcame it? As of my last flight, I have accumulated 38 hours (engine running time, I estimate some 34 of actual flight time). I'm doing well in everything, ground reference maneuvers, all types of take offs, normal landings, power on/off...

Re: Another Question About Short Field Landing
My question is, if my selected spot is the second line after the numbers, where does the 200 feet start? Will the 200 feet start from the beginning of the second line or the end of the second line? Bill, if you're so close to the margin that the width of the line will matter, then you haven't maste...

Use google earth to bring up a satellite image of your airport. Then use the measuring tape tool to find the distance you need. I've had a lot of fun verifying my landing distances that way. I did that. 200 feet goes from the beginning of the line to the beginning of the next line, so I'm assuming ...

Thanks for all the answers. Yesterday night, I re-read the PTS and the CTLS Training Sylabus, The Training Sylabus does specify 30 or 35 degrees flaps for short field landing. Based on this and what was posted here, I'll have to get my 30 degree flaps short field proficiency before the check ride, a...

Question about short field landing on check ride
I have met all the pre-requisites for the check ride, all required minimum hours and passed knowledge test. I'm pretty proficient in almost all maneuvers. There's only one thing where I'm kind of weak, landing with 30 degree flaps for a short field simulation. I can do the short field simulation wel...

I might have misunderstood the 2 CFI I have talked to. One was my instructor, we talked very briefly about the requirements for solo cross-country while flying the dual cross-country. The other time was a while ago with another CFI and it was also a brief conversation. I'll talk to my CFI more in de...
