Re: Time to talk about Allegro's

Landing procedure was to cut the power abeam the numbers, and glide the rest of the pattern incrementally adding flaps. That's how I was taught a half century ago in an Aeronca Champ (except, for the flaps, substitute slips). And, that's the way I teach now in an Evektor, Sport Cruiser, Gobosh, etc...

Re: Time to talk about Allegro's

I've flown a few hours in the Allegro with the 80hp rotax. Its a good airplane. 4800rpm take off would be a breeze with one person on board. The one at my flight school had over 4000 hours on the airframe. It is very light on the controls and has to be flown with your feet entering turns. Glides rea...

Total flight Solutions in Louisburg NC has a Remos for rent and instruction. I sent an email, but I still don't see it on the map.

Re: USA Today Report on GA

Sounds like a reporter trying to make a name for himself by skewing facts to meet his agenda.. Guess the 40,000 automotive deaths per year are insignificant as are the 225,000 deaths per year caused by medical malpractice. Flying is safer than seeing my doctor - go figure.... LOL! Brilliant!! Best ...

You should check the flight tracking data for that one! By the doppler calculations you may have been just shy of mach 1. 8)

Re: My First Long Flying Trip

Nice write up, for a great flight. I looked at your flight aware data and there were several points where you were going over 160mph! One read 170mph!! Thats awesome!

*The airplane that you used to rent.

It looks like gusty conditions may have played a major role on approach.

Re: Six seats, under 6000lb, day/night VFR on driver's licen

I think the RV14 cruises closer to 160kts. This could definitely breath new life into the fading general aviation used aircraft inventory. I think there is still a niche for the new light sport aircraft, but the market will become much smaller due to increased segmentation introduced by the huge var...

Re: Mid-air Collision over Wisconsin

+1 In the video, it looks like the trail plane allowed the lead plane to get into his blind spot, below the cowl. Once the skydivers started climbing onto the wing strut, the aircraft veered to the right and lost some altitude, resulting in the collision with the lead aircraft, who had no way of see...

Re: Allegro wish-list?

I don't like the center stick or the setup of the panel. With the center stick, it is difficult to reach around to the radios on the far side of the panel. I guess it just feels weird having the throttle on the left and then having to reach all the way to the right to hit the flaps, and to switch ha...
