Bristell 915 cruise speed
Had a friend send me a screenshot of his non stop trip from Nashville to Dallas. 147 knots true burning 8.1 GPH. 170 mph at 21 MPG ain’t bad for an SLSA fixed pitch! Now if the price was reasonable…

Re: Experiences with VL3 SLSA?
I got to check out one of the 915 VL3 demo’s at Sun N’ Fun this year and drooled all over it. With that said, I highly doubt you’d see 150 knots true with just the 914 and fixed gear. With 130hp definitely. The problem with the Experimental Exhibition VL3’s is that you need 250 hours of retract time...

Re: Zlin Savage Norden
The pictures Zlin posted is actually that old prototype now. They haven’t used a constant speed prop in over 6 months while testing and probably never will again as you don’t need one for this application. The 80” 4 blade E-PROPS that’s on the black Norden is fixed pitch. That prop and engine combin...

Re: What speed do you taxi at?
The AIM says no faster than a “brisk walk” but I’d say no faster than 10 knots on a long straightaway.

Preferred Financing?
Hey y’all,
My Dad is close to pulling the trigger on a used Tecnam Astore and was wondering who y’all have had good experience with for aircraft financing? Thanks!

Re: 130shp turboprop
A turboprop on the front of an LSA is almost too much to handle for my brain, it would be epic.
My favorite turboprop is the PBS TP100 with 241SHP and $120K cost. I’d especially love one of those on the Zlin Savage Norden.

Re: LSA with room for dog?
The Ranger does have a lot of room in the back I will say. I just wish it had a real aircraft engine in it.
The Zlin Savage Norden can at least fit one! https://youtu.be/p-9-lDetmuo

Re: Status of US S-LSA Market
Yeah, great advice above. I think you’d enjoy flying the SportCruiser more, let alone how much cheaper it will be to operate year in and year out. I had about a 1,000 hours in 1.5 years in the SportCruiser and really grew to love it, despite its shortcomings. It’s a fun little airplane!

Re: Light sport dying?
Personally , after doing taildragger endorsement for fun, I am still not a big fan of taildraggers ... to me it is just added complexity with no clear benefit , especially in places like IL - my plane already lands at 35-40 knots so it is already pretty safe to put it down in tight places. Addition...

Re: Light sport dying?
Sounds like a great plane, but... The empty weight is fairly low at around 840 pounds empty with a 914 and most options. The useful load is better than a lot of SLSA’s that I can think of. 840 pounds empty weight is at the very high end of Light Sport empty weights I’ve seen. I think they top out i...
