Re: Training advice
So finally everything lined up correctly ( weather, light traffic at our D class airport etc ) and I soloed today at 23 hours in Remos GX – three, progressively better, landings and , while I started out nervous like hell, everything went pretty smoothly. Thanks for your encouragement - flying is ju...

Rotax iS vs ULS
I keep reading about 912 iS being a smoother running engine .... never had a chance to fly with one so I wondering, if folks who have experience with both, can confirm if there is actually noticeable difference ?
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Hey from AZ
Welcome.
Watched some of your videos on YouTube.... including the one when you were introducing your girlfriend to stalls in a Remos.
I myself I am training in one so I was quite enjoying watching your adventures.

Re: Yesterday's Sting Flight to 12,500 ft.
.... But I must say, when you're at 12K and as far as you can see in all directions is 30-ft-deep snow, it does tend to tighten something up... Yeah, on the other hand, 30-ft deeps snow makes for soft landings ... just look at this guy's story :D https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ivan_Chisov With the a...

Re: Senate passes pilot bill of rights 2
Not everything is about you Andy. .... There are some medical conditions and situations that any prudent person would agree need closer scrutiny. There are some pilots that should be grounded for medical reasons. I agree the 3rd class medical didn't do much to weed them out, however. Undoubtedly , ...

Re: First Solo!
I am kind of looking at Arion as well but ultimately will have to try it out cause I keep hearing that it is incompatible with low time pilot students like me

Re: My First Sim Flight
For about $100 you can get TrackIr which approximates quite well being in a 3d cockpit ( as you turn your head , the screen view follows ) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-UGASAXWV4 For me the most obvious missing part within consumer grade Flight Sims is lack of actual G-forces - it is still usefu...

Re: Part 23 rewrite and LSA's
Anyway, on a related note - is it true that if one is flying E-LSA , it is required to ident as experimental when talking to a tower ? Pretty sure any time contact is initiated with ATC you must inform them of you'r Experimental status. Are there any specific requirements for SLSA ? Doesn't seem to...

Re: Part 23 rewrite and LSA's
Not sure what is the purpose of that limit thought ... it is limiting options for folks who want to configure their LSA in the way that suits them while still staying with overall performance envelope established by LSA rules ( and thus forces them to play E-LSA games )

Re: Part 23 rewrite and LSA's
On interesting thing about LSA weight limits, I wasn't aware of, is the fact that in addition to a gross weight ( 1320 lbs ), there is also a maximum empty weight limit for SLSA. I was inquiring about BRS equipped Arion Lighting and was told that due to that LSA max empty limit, they cannot install ...

Re: Part 23 rewrite and LSA's
I think allowing safety equipment like BRS ( up to a certain weight, off course ) , to be excluded from the 1320 total limit, would be a reasonable step that would not required changes to any other regulations.

Re: My Biggest Pet Peeve: Pattern Cyclers Who...
Well, I do patterns at D class airport and thus I am learning to extend both downwinds and departures (when someone joins the pattern )courtesy of our friendly tower operators but yeah, normally, that should be job for the instructor. BTW... I am not far off from my first solo ( hopefully ) and my i...

Re: Training advice
Thanks. I am training with two instructors and both are actually very helpful and very passionate about their jobs which makes the whole thing much more enjoyable - and I do trust them 100%. I guess it is more my internal struggle - the occasional "what the hell am I doing here at 3000 feet up&...

Re: Training advice
Hi, sorry for not introducing myself.
I am in my mid 40s , trying to get into flying ( at this stage in my life I have reasonable disposable income and frankly , I am not getting any younger so it is , pretty much, now or never )
I am located in Chicago area.

Training advice
Hey guys, Just started my training , currently with 2 lessons ( 2 hours ) So far things are looking reasonably ok on the surface , meaning my instructor says we are ready to progress into slow flight and stalls. Myself , I am not so confident - sure, after some training, I can now do basic 20-30 deg...
