Re: Coming back to the fold
Because of the high costs involved and lack of LSA rental near enough to matter, I gave up all hopes of ever learning to fly under Light Sport years ago. I satisfy my lifelong passion for aviation via Microsoft Flight Sim 2020 and related sim hardware plugged into my PC desktop "cockpit". ...

Re: new member from CA
I'm counting on the MOSAIC rule being implemented by the time I finish my training next year. When it passes I'll be able to rent/fly most of the planes at my local airport that are owned by my training organization. As a tram volunteer at AirVenture each year I often hear the UNofficial FAA motto ...

Re: new member from CA
Best advice I'd offer would be to check out who has any Light Sport airplanes to rent sufficiently close to you. Most flight schools do not. LSA availability can be a deciding factor, more so than finding a Sport Pilot teacher. Unless of course you are financially able to purchase, insure and store ...

Re: Vans aircraft is going out of business ?
The candid vid sounds more like a restructuring of the company with an unsaid opportunity for a buyout by or partnership with a serious -and wealthy -aviation enthusiast?

Re: Ground school
If my aging memory serves, It’s all the exact same stuff except you can leave out VOR nav and night flying. Everything else is exactly the same.
But I'll wait to see if anyone can confirm that.

Re: 5 Year Rubber Replacement?
I have no horse in this race (sadly) but I do note the rather unique nature of hose failures in pursuits such as aviation and scuba diving vs say cars, trucks and motorcycles. In the latter you might end up stranded at the side of the road, in the former you might die. Just sayin'. My personal 'no h...

Re: SportPilotTalk.com Shutting Down in August
Thanks for creating/hosting this informative forum. It is unfortunate that the Sport Pilot/Light Sport invention has turned out to be 'less than affordable' and impractical for the masses who wanted something simple but more than Ultralights. Perhaps new legislation down the road allowing 150's/172'...

Amazing technology to be sure. Magic at the very least. Can you post a still pic that shows the selfie stick?

Sim Flying year round
It's been rather quiet here of late, so just thought I'd mention the aviation related joy that fills my retirement hours, regardless of the time, the weather OR my limited discretionary monies. Namely Microsoft Flight Sim 2020. I picked up all the necessary PC hardware to have a mini-cockpit at the ...
