Re: What speed do you taxi at?
10-15 is way too fast. These things are kites mounted on shopping carts not go karts. 'Drive' them accordingly.

Re: Sport Pilot ICAO limitation carryover
My guess is HOLDER DOES NOT MEET ICAO REQUIREMENTS. refers only to your sport privileges.

Re: CFI-S ASEL to CFI-G
CFI-Sport would be an initial CFI checkride with all the rigor. Then CFI-G would be a CFI checkride with I believe more flexibility in DPE choice and allegedly a little professional courtesy for already having a CFI rating. Or you could add CFI-Sportglider privileges via sign offs. That limits you t...

Re: Electric LSA
crappy recip engines most motorized gliders use, You mean like the Rotax 912 and 914 used in all the mororgliders I've ever flown? I wouldn't call those crappy. No the two stroke ones used in the more racing, less touring-ish sailplanes. Four stroke Rotaxs are great engines, the electric engined sa...

Re: Electric LSA
The big brain expensive sailplane design crowd have been playing with electric motors for over ten years they haven't been more reliable than the crappy recip engines most motorized gliders use, and that is pretty bad. Electric solves zero problems that aren't equaled or exceeded by new problems. I'...

Re: Rent dual only?
Go fly the Cub because it is a Cub. Get the tailwheel endorsement. See from there. Renting dual only would get old for me once I knew how to fly the plane. It will be spring soon and that is the best soaring season so don't worry about silly motor planes until summer.

Re: Maintenance Costs
If your local EAA chapter is cool you'll make friends with people that can help you learn how to do this stuff yourself. Also possible access to tools and hangar space to do the work.

Re: Minimum outside temperature for flying
20ish and sunny with a compelling reason. Without a compelling reason 50's. Not a total weather wimp I just stop having fun below a certain point and I only fly for fun. Ski flying is really fun, but for regular motoring around I'm not putting up with the cold.

I'd fly it if someone tossed me the keys. Pay money to fly it, not likely. Good on them for building new stuff, I hope they sell thousands of them.

Those guys fly it up to KPYM for maintenance. Had a chat with them at the airport diner last year while they were waiting.

Re: CFI-S Flight review
I was under the impression a FR could be done in an LSA by a CFI-S for anyone. As the pilot getting the FR is(or can be) exercising SP privileges. If it isn't legal I suppose it would be if the pilot getting the FR had let their medical lapse. Not a practical solution but at that point the pilot has...

Re: Sport Pilot ASEL to Private Pilot Glider
Most US clubs have a Schweizer 2-33 they are LSA legal. Rare in the US, Puchaz is also a LSA legal 2 seater. Most gliders are not LSA legal due to high VNE. Most single seaters, 1-26s being a notable exception, are not LSA legal, again due to VNE. Private pilot glider is relatively easy to get, of ...
