McFarlane Throttle cable replacement?
I have a McFarlane throttle in my plane and my mechanic trimmed the cables too short 2 years ago. This has resulted in great difficulty getting the carbs adjusted right since. Does anyone know if you can just replace the cables?

Re: Winter Advice
I have had good luck using a trickle charger powered by a small solar panel to maintain the battery when tied down for long periods. Do you have any recommendations from Amazon or Sporty's? I used an 18 watt panel and a Battery Tender brand solar charge controller that I mounted in a waterproof box...

Re: Aircraft takeoff performance
Thanks for everyone's input. This has been something that I have been thinking about for awhile but doesn't matter much for my typical operations. I do remember in ground school looking at the elaborate charts available from Cessna for their planes. Paul, I figured you have dealt with this question ...

Aircraft takeoff performance
Hello everyone, My Sportstar manual has very little about takeoff performance. It basically just lists a ~600 ft takeoff roll is needed at gross weight and standard conditions if I remember correctly. I am interested in how it is affected by different density altitudes, weights, winds, slopes etc. Y...

Welcome Chad!
What year is your Sportstar? I have a 2006 model and am in central North Carolina. Your home airport looks very challenging. Hopefully you have somewhere else to learn to fly.

Re: Fire resistant Paint
I bought some from this company November 2020, https://www.fireretardantsinc.com/ . It was recommended by Flight Design USA for coating the firewall. I still have some left, but I don't know if it is still good. The link I had from back then comes up empty for the product. You might also try Airtim...

Fire resistant Paint
My Evektor Sportstar comes with an off white paint on the insides of the fiberglass cowls that surround the engine. This is supposedly fire resistant. On my Sportstar this paint is in poor condition and needs to be redone. The problem is the specified paint is no longer available. Does anyone know o...

Re: New Guy from North Carolina
I did my SP training at Louisburg. A started with Total Flight Solutions there. They used to have a couple LSA but they were both lost due to accidents and were not replaced. I ended up buying a plane to complete my training. My flight instructors might both be retired now. I think you are probably ...

Yes, that seems wildly off. Prices I have seen for a new 912ULS have been $20k or so

All his hours count. It is my understanding that even if his previous time was in a Cessna 172 it would count.
