Re: Training Question
Thank you Tim and Paul. I got the feeling that the CFI had not been teaching a long time; I had asked him about his general teaching experience and he said that he assisted at another school. I realize that everyone has to start somewhere, and he appears to be a good person/communicator, so I don't ...

Training Question
I'm aware that I'll probably get a wide range of responses to this question, so here it goes... I recently completed ground school and passed my FAA written exam for Sport Pilot. I took a lesson recently and the CFI was not very aware of the Sport Pilot requirements; he knew of it, but did not know ...

Re: Sport Pilot Training Seattle/Tacoma/Olympia
Thanks for the help Happydan. I took the written today and scored 88% so I'm excited to get started (whenever this rain we're having will let up a bit). I live near Olympia, so traveling to Puyallup, Gig Harbor, or Vashon would be no problem. Arlington would be ideal, but that's almost a 2 hour haul...

Sport Pilot Training Seattle/Tacoma/Olympia
Hello. So I've just completed ground school and I am now looking for a CFI or flight school in the Seattle, Tacoma, or Olympia area. I'm aware that there is one school in Renton, Washington but would like to see if there are any other options.
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you.

Re: LSA Flying Club idea
Think about inclusion instead of exclusion. LSA is a niche market and to keep it sustainable, there needs to be a pathway for new people to learn. Convert that learning experience into loyalty in the form of memberships. True, it may cost more with insurance, but the dividends would outweigh the cos...

Re: LSA Flying Club idea
You may want to change your business model a bit and have a two tiered approach that is more self sustaining: Tier 1: Create a club where everyone owns a share in the aircraft and pays dues for the upkeep, hanger/office space. Have a membership board that reassesses the dues annually and determines ...

Re: Avionics
Indeed. Ham radio, I believe, still has a place in society as an emergency means of communication, and it would be nice to see more involvement by this generation, but it looks like interest is waning. I remember back in the 80's, 2 meters was very active in the Seattle area (it was hard to get a wo...

Re: Avionics
Very cool photo! Always liked Ten-Tec gear and wanted to get a Scout at one time.

Re: Avionics
Excellent! So it is a matter of taking a mobile 2 meter rig and mounting it in the aircraft, or is it more involved? I imagine that simplex at elevation would go for miles!

Re: Avionics
It sounds like installing a 2 meter transceiver may be a bit easier. I wanted to have something a bit more permanent than using a portable.

Avionics
Hello. I realize that there are some restrictions on what can be installed on general aircraft and by who, but am wondering if I can put a ADF in a LSA if I wanted to, or is there a formal FAA process that needs to be completed? How about a ham radio with external antenna?
Thank you.
Thank you.

Re: Ground School
Thank you all for the responses. It is much appreciated! I am doing the written first (and also practicing on a simulator for familiarity) so that I do not have the stress of doing everything at once and make better use of the instructor's time.

Ground School
Hello. I'm interested in earning a Sport Pilot license and have a couple of questions about ground school training. Can I take ground school training for Private Pilot (instead of one specifically for Sport Pilot) and use that endorsement to take the FAA Sport Pilot written test? Can I take the writ...
