Oops - ignore me - search here found a reference to 2010 when the fix was announced.

"B" fix to CH 601 XL from 2006?

Hi All - factory built CH 601 XL, built 2006: was that after the "B" wing mod? FAA registry says it was built by AMD in 2006, as a Light Sport with a cont. 0200. It looks nice, decently equipped.

Re: Rotax prices? Am I missing something?

Never considered it - not even looking to buy; was just researching replacement/overhaul costs when considering planes with Rotax 912s. J
ust found it odd and wildly "off".

Rotax prices? Am I missing something?

Short version - saw a nice airplane with a 912 80 HP near TBO: was looking around for prices, what it would costs to overhaul or replace with a 100 HP 912, and cam across this site, Focus Marine, with prices that seem wildly off (too low). What am I missing???? https://focusmarineoutboard.com/catego...

Re: Zodiac Zenair AMD models?

That is uhhh, lame language. Identical aircraft, and S-LSA,whether factory or homebuilt, must be identical per the regs - at least when the AW cert was first granted. . .I read "discretion" and hear "capricious". I get it, that's the reality - but it's gonna be weird to find diff...

Re: Zodiac Zenair AMD models?

Got it, check the limitations on the pink slip. My uninformed concern on a S-LSA not yet moved to experimental is whether I'd recognize changes made without a LOA - I'd have to have a real certain knowledge of the type. But I could check with the folks who own them, via user forums, etc. Is it possi...

Re: Zodiac Zenair AMD models?

My thanks, then - you answered all my questions about moving an aircraft from S-LSA to E-LSA. Got me shopping for E-LSA that is (or can be) equipped for IFR/IMC use. The DAR confirming "zero changes" before the move to E-LSA scares me some, so I'm inclined to seek out a plane already regis...

Zodiac Zenair AMD models?

Hello All,

I found a Wikipedia page that SEEMS to cover the Zodiac/Zenair/AMD models - except for Zenith 601 XLB. What's the "B", as opposed to just Zenith 601XL? The wing mod??

Re: Any near miss stories?

Flabob! I was in the Aero Club at Norton, my first solo was at Hemet-Ryan, early 70's. So long ago. But I digress. I've come to think that while all accidents are preventable, some are inevitable. I know it sounds contradictory, but I think it's an aspect of human nature. Our perceptions are going t...

Re: Any near miss stories?

I don't have any time flying in Florida - were mid-airs in cruise more common there before ADS-B?

Re: Any near miss stories?

Mid-airs in cruise are rare as hens' teeth; it's just not a statistically likely event. I imagine most/almost all cruise-flight "near misses" would have been "misses" regardless of pilots taking action, or not. VFR fLight following has some value, but for me, not enough to bother...
