Re: MP4 to DVD
9 minutes long and 3 GB sounds like it is lossless. You want to encode it so it is smaller or it will be difficult for anyone to use.

Re: Experiences with VL3 SLSA?
I got to check out one of the 915 VL3 demo’s at Sun N’ Fun this year and drooled all over it. With that said, I highly doubt you’d see 150 knots true with just the 914 and fixed gear. With 130hp definitely. The problem with the Experimental Exhibition VL3’s is that you need 250 hours of retract tim...

Experiences with VL3 SLSA?
I'm thinking about a VL3 aircraft. Does anyone here have any experiences with them especially for big guys going on long cross-country flights? I called a rep and was told I could expect 150 KTAS with the 914 UL engine at 5500 RPM at 8000 MSL even with fixed pitch prop and fixed landing gears, which...

Re: Replacing voltage regulators in iS engines?
I know that the generator in the iS is three phase not single phase, so I'd need a three phase full-wave rectifier, so the regular aftermarket replacements that work on the ULS wouldn't work on the iS. Unless there is an easy way to convert a single phase rectifier to a three phase rectifier.

Replacing voltage regulators in iS engines?
Does anyone know if it's possible to replace the regulator rectifiers in the 912iS engine with a different brand like Silent Hektik? I don't like shunt regulators.
I know you can do that with the 912ULS but the 912iS regulator rectifiers are a little different.

Crazy guy takes unfinished plane for joyride
Some guy thought it'd be real fun to take an unfinished plane held together with duct tape and a plastic water bottle for radiator overflow for a joyride. A plane that wasn't even his. In heavy rain with a low ceiling no less. And he was not even a pilot. Crashed on landing but survived. How could s...

Re: Light Sport Weight Limit
I think it's pretty simply actually, if you don't like the LSA rules go get your PPL and fly a bigger plane that suits your new mission. And for those of us who cannot get a medical due to insane restrictions? Got diagnosed with ADD as a kid? Grounded! If it was just a matter of the extra training,...

Re: What speed do you taxi at?
On very smooth ground at "good" airports I'll usually taxi at 10-15. Sometimes 20 if I really have to expedite, like landing on a huge runway and being told that another plane is about to turn final when I'm still half a mile from the next exit. On my home airport the taxiways are so bad t...

Re: GTOW
Many European manufacturers like to point out that their aicraft are certified above 600 kg in other countries, and can "handle it." What they're not telling you (but you should know) is that stall speed goes up with weight, so if overloading an LSA (even in countries where it's legal), y...

Re: How bad is tap water mixed with coolant?
When is the next 5 year due? The coolant will be changed then. Coolant isn't changed on the same interval as the 5 year rubber chage, Rotax states "Coolant must be replaced as per manufacturers instructions, at the latest during overhaul or when the engine is replaced". This of course var...

This happens to me also from time to time and sometimes just resolves itself over time.

Re: How bad is tap water mixed with coolant?
I know that it should only be distilled water. If it's not my plane for example but the owner who put tap water in said it was fine to do once or twice. Is that true and is the damage slow and cumulative or could it cause it to seize after just a few times?

How bad is tap water mixed with coolant?
If a Rotax 912 coolant expansion tank got topped up with 1 cup of tap water for a several hour flight how bad is that? If the tap water is removed after the flight. Does the water hardness of the utility matter if it happens only once?
