I agree, although I think $110000 represents the mid range of the US SLSA market right now with CT, TECNAM, & CubCrafters all basing out closer to $125000. A lot of it has to do with the US Dollar strength vs. Euro. I know that the $109000 that I mentioned came straight from the factory in Polan...

Paul, Thanks for the post! CFIS it is.javascript:emoticon(':D') Very Happy As for pilot attitudes... I have always been taught to respect the opinions of those with more experience than myself. In aviation, with only 200tt under my belt, most people are more experienced than myself. I am passionate ...

Flight Review 3X55 (to be renamed Navigator 600 for the US release). The flight was conducted at approximately 95# less than MTOW. Little or no wind (<8kts) existed at the time of the flight. Ground handling was good and the airplane was easily controlled without using differential breaking. This is...

OK guys, I flew it. I can not express in words how impressed I am with this little aircraft. While I'm not the most experienced pilot by any means, I just have a little over 200 hours tt. Ive logged time in C150, C172, PA-18(on floats), PA-28, and an hour in an Allegro 2000, this is the best handlin...

I'd like to see the FAA do a random independent flight test of a few designs to see how an airplane built to the LSA standards actually flies. Does the FAA actually do that? On certified planes? I assumed that they just relied on the manufacturers "test pilots" and didn't employee their o...

Thanks for taking a look guys! Cub - Very nice evaluation based on a web site - I'm impressed. I've seen the plane in person and thought almost exactly the same things. (Did you see the plane at Oshkosh?) rsteele - The only one of these flying in North America currently is registered as an AULA in C...

While I am no expert on this process, I am going to try and answer some of these, if I'm wrong, please forgive and correct as I am always learning. Can the FAA step into the ATSM standards? No, the FAA has accepted the ASTM standards as a much more flexible means of production and testing standards....

Guys, Take a look at this airplane http://www.rainbowsportaviation.com and let me know what you think. (specs & appearance - what else can you get from a web site?) They are not U.S. SLSA certified yet but are in the process of being certified. I have seen the aircraft in the U.S. awaiting certi...

Affirmative, fly someplace - then fly someplace else - then come home. Three legs... Start @ point A Fly to Point B Fly to Point C Then return to Point A Pay attention to the distance requirements, total distance must be at least 75nm, with one leg at least 25mn straight line distance. Most importan...

Doug, I can absolutely say that some in people in aviation will always consider SP & CFI-SP as second class citizens. Just as some think of pilots without instrument ratings as "weekend warriors", and others that think if you don't fly 100 hours per year you can't be a proficient pilot...

That is sort of my point... CFI-SP, CFIS, SPI, SCFI (my personal favorite) - the certificate has not been legitimized to the point consistency. No one calls a MEI a CFIM or a CFII an ICFI. Even the moderator of this forum (a well respected individual in the industry) uses CFIS where the FAA uses CFI...

Thanks Doug! Not the answer I was hoping to get - but the one I expected. I had taken and passed the FIA exam almost two years ago (by mistake, I was supposed to be taking AGI - Lasergrade allowed me to retake the correct exam for free because I kept telling the proctor that it was the wrong test). ...

Subpart K Flight Instructor with Sport Pilot Rating

Hello, I have a question about the written test for obtaining a CFIS Airplane. But first... is that the proper way to abbreviate the certificate? Or is it CFI-SP? I've seen it both ways. Anyway, my actual question... Is the written test for a Flight Instructor with Sport Pilot Rating - Airplane the ...

I too would like to see the data that SP_Laser is looking for, but I don't think it exists yet either. But, just in case let me throw out this scenario... Purchase new plane for $100,000 Fly the plane in a training environment for 3 years, let's say 300 hours per year. Sell the plane with ~900 TT. W...
