tailwheel tie down release

I have a tail dragger that I hand prop. I am looking to build some sort of tail wheel tie down that I can release from the cockpit. I don't want to use a glider tow hook release because they are expensive and look a little heavy to be put on the tail wheel. Anybody ever made one, seen one or know wh...

Challenger II as motor glider to fly w/denied medical?

Just saw this on Barnstormers. A Challenger II registered as a motor glider. So I looked up the N# (N28CH) on the FAA website and it does show it as a glider.
It looks like this may be legal. Anybody ever heard of this?

I have not heard anything on this either. FYI. I was denied for a third class medical due to leukemia. I also have had both hips replaced and cataract surgery in both eyes. Add in a dash of kidney failure and AVN in my shoulders(degenerative joint disease). I told the FAA about all of these conditio...

Anyone else in IL get an audit for sales tax on their ELSA?

I converted my ultralight to ELSA in 2007. The ultralight was acquired with an even trade. No money exchanged. Also the ultralight had no paperwork to show ownership. In January I got a tax audit in the mail from the Illinois Department Of Revenue. They want me to provide a bill of sale so that I ca...

When switching between coils I can hear that the engine is running considerably slower on one coil than the other. I doubt the tach is off by 300 RPM only when running on the coil that has the bigger drop. I will check it with an optical tach, but I doubt it will show much difference. It's worth a t...

Rotax 503 SCDI RPM drop when checking ignition in preflight

I have a factory new Rotax 503 SCDI with about 30 hours on it. It all of the sudden is getting an almost 600 RPM drop on one of the coils when I do my pre flight run up. The other coil gets 300RPM drop which is normal. The engine runs perfectly with normal operating temps as per the manual. Also run...

I was told in my maintenance class that it is not good to use a fuel that contains alcohol. It is bad for the engine and the entire fuel system because it attracts water.

relax, take a deep breath and hold it for 5 seconds. It'll be O.K.. It's just a forum. I'll stop the forum rage if you do. Deal?

Making threats is probably not a good idea.

I see you are all grey. For me it is hard to get out and work a 60+ hr. week. I had been struggling with leukemia from 2000-2005. I have two artificial hips, a degenerative joint disease in my shoulders, I am in stage 3 kidney failure, I have had catarach surgery, my blood pressure in 2005 was 180/1...

How old are you guys that can afford an SLSA? The guy that originaly posted the topic is obviously in the same boat as I am. I keep hearing this CharlieTango guy saying what a great deal his plane is. He compares it to a 182 or a new Cirrus. What a joke. He is one of the few fat older people that th...

Changing jets on Rotax 2 stroke for temp. changes and ELSA?

After I converted my plane to an ELSA I started to wonder if changing the jets in the carb would be legal since I do not hold a mechanics rating. I live in norhtern Iliinois were we have drastic changes in temperature over the course of a year. This requires the main jet to be changed. Now that my p...

I agree. Bottom line is if you want to use your fat ultralight for a door stop then you probably aren't in violation of any laws. The tax is a different story. Although most people just put that they paid a dollar on the bill of sale.
