TV news said they have positively identified the plane. Engine was 300 feet from the rest of the plane, must have been one heck of an impact. But, they have not found any body and are still looking for remains. Did he do a 'Cooper' and bail out of the plane?

Before buying a bunch of stuff, I would suggest you talk with your flight school and CFI first, and then, get stuff as you need it. They will be able to give you good advice on what you need and when you need it. Good luck and have fun getting your PPL!
