SportPilot, thank you again. I am always prepared for points of view. I have my 3rd class medical and only need about 10 additional hrs but I am planning
on 15 or so. I will take the written in the next 2 weeks. Additionally I will be flying with a friend of mine here at the air park where I live to further improve
my skills.

SportPilot, unfortunately no. Will be flying the school's 172M. Fortunately one of our friends has one
that I fly in regularly. I actually sold my Lightning 3 years ago due to not using it because of work.
Too good of an airplane to have sitting in a hangar.

I know Sport pilot will not see this because he has me blocked, but I thought I would throw it out there anyway. It is not about pointing out exceptions. You made a matter of fact statement that was not true. Paul and myself pointed that out, and you take exception to that. I am certain if one of us made a statement that you knew to be false you would point it out too.
Tom, when I've made false or erroneous statements, you've pointed it out, and I've been grateful. We can all learn from one another. That most of us are willing to is what makes these forums great.

gmohr wrote:So a quick question. How does this rule affect Sport Pilots who are now working on their upgrade to
Private? Will I be required to obtain a new Student Certificate or does my Sport Pilot Certificate cover
me?
This thread covers the subject you are asking about. Look at Hellen's post for the specific CFR's covering this, and AC for the required sign offs.

There have been other on this forum that have set me straight before. I used it as a learning experience.
