Would it be possible to add on the list a map with points where people were based and what type of LSA airplane?

That would give people looking at LSA's a chance to see if there are any similar airplanes around them.

Might help for fly-outs, purchasing airplanes, looking at ones before buying new, Getting instruction for insurance requirements or demo rides.

The manufacturers could also recommend where to go see one of their products if they have no dealers in an area yet.

Since most LSA airplanes are in closed hangars you don't know what is at an airport when you arrive.

Even just a database by state with owner name, type of airplane, city / airport identifier names would be helpful.

Might get more involved who are interested.

A map sounds like a good idea, but someone has to put all those aircraft one at a time onto the map. I'd think it would be tough enough just to get forum members to add their aircraft to the map; imagine trying to get *all* LSA added to the map.

What about just looking through the FAA aircraft registry? Here's a list of their civil databases as of 11/28/08:

US Civil Registry by N-Number
Us Civil Registry by Serial Number
US Civil Registry by Name of Registrant
US Civil Registry by Make & Model
US Civil Registry by State and County

Here's a link to the Make & Model database; it's searchable by make and model, as well as by location, owner and address.

http://registry.faa.gov/MicroFiche/armaep80.pdf

Using this you get all the aircraft - not just the ones members here happen to list.
