Sun n Fun ???

Post by CTflyer »

Puzzled - it starts today but I can't find anything here on Sun n Fun at all.

Anyone going? Anyone there? Any news?

I just learned that Cirrus has "temporarily suspended" its Light Sport Aircraft program (SRS). Wonder if Cirrus will be at Lakeland.

Cirrus was not at the Light Sport Expo in Sebring in January. Instead, they had one of their local dealers there who was showing a used SR20. I spoke with him about the Cirrus LSA and was told that development has been put on hold due to the economic climate.

aero-news.net has an article today about the SRS. Short and sweet is it's suspended until further notice. I'm not sure this makes sense with LSA seems to be the only segment holding it's own, sales wise.

Companies such as Tecnam, Flight Design, and a few others have got to be loving that news. Cessna has got to be loving that, too. However, their problems with the SkyScratcher must be putting smiles their competitors' faces also.

Shame, too, because I am in the market for a new LSA this year. I just bought my Ercoupe last fall, but have been having so much fun flying (again) that I want something new and shiny. If Cirrus had something coming soon I would definitely wait and take a close look. I'm not interested in the Cessna - because of the Chinese manufacturing - sorry, but I'm afraid any use of lead paint will make it exceed gross weight . I have flown a Tecnam Sierra and am about to embark on test flights for a few other planes. Tecnam Eaglet or Echo, CTSW, Gobosh, Evektor Sportstar are all on my "interest" list.

I fly the Valor. It's over in paradise city and in the commercial side near the EAA tent, kind of behind the Terrafuego.
It's fun, roomy and bright and shiny.
Look me up in paradise city.
