UL pilot transition to SP??

Post by Lspilot82 »

I'm transitioning to Sp from UL's and I was wondering if I can still use my time logged in UL's to go towards SP. I was registered with Aero Sports connection and i've requested my ul pilots records...so will i still be able to do the 3 hours of flight time and not have to start over and do the full 20?

Brian - looks like you can count all hours as long as they were after you registered with EAA for the transition. Details:

"Ultralight pilots who have registered as an ultralight student or pilot with EAA can use aeronautical experience (flight hours) obtained in ultralight vehicles (no FAA N-number) to meet the experience requirements to obtain a sport pilot certificate in accordance with FAR 61.52.

<snip>

"For example, the 20 hours flight experience required for sport pilot-airplane could all be flown in an ultralight vehicle. However, the flight time must be flown after the date registered in the ultralight registration program, and properly logged per FAA requirements for logging flight time.

Hope this helps.

Nope. The only time that counts, is properly logged time, after you were registered with an org, with a BFI. After the BFI program terminated, its impossible to "log any new ultralight time".

No you can not do that. There are no more BFIs since 1/31/08. That's why i said there is no way to log new ultralight time
