Deland vs Sebring

Post by c162pilot »

Wondering if anybody has an opinion here. Trying to decide between attending the new Deland Sport Aviation Showcase on 11/3 or US Sport Aviation Expo on 1/25/17. Budget only allows me to attend one of these shows. Been to Sebring twice before so I am familiar that particular show. Thoughts on if the weather is better in November or January in central Florida. Anybody on this board planning on attending Deland?

I've never been to either, but I live halfway between them so I'll probably attend both. Weather would be about equal. Sometimes Nov is a bit warmer, but Sebring tends to be a bit warmer than Deland. Any difference would be insignificant.

If you're trying to have a dual-purpose trip, Deland is closer to Orlando and the theme parks.

Now that the Sebring Sport Aviation Expo is (sadly) a thing of the past, the Sport Aviation Showcase in Deland FL has emerged as its heir apparent. This year's event has been scheduled for 14-16 November 2019, and I'm pleased to announce that I have been named a keynote speaker. In addition to my keynote address (scheduled for Thursday the 14th at 1PM), I'll be presenting three separate FAA Safety Team WINGS and AMT Award seminars, each day at 3 PM. I look forward to seeing my SportPilotTalk friends in Deland.

Congrats Paul, that’s awesome. I have plans to attend Thursday or Friday weather permitting, it’s about a 40 minute flight for me from Clearwater. We met this year in Sebring at one of your talks. I also met 1/2 Fast as well that same morning.

Should be an even bigger show now that Sebring is over and the vendors that only went there will now attend the Deland LSA Showcase.

Yes, it was great seeing you both in January. Hopefully, we'll converge again in November.

I’m planning on it. Hope they get a good crowd. Deland should be a better location.
