A shiny airplane...

...is a happy airplane.

I just thought I’d share what I’ve settled on the keep my Sky Arrow looking sharp. Stipulated that flying in VFR conditions and being hangared helps a lot - I mainly have to deal with dust and pollen and bugs. As such, it’s very rare I have to resort to soap and water.

What I do is to first spray on Turtle Wax Ice Detailer and wipe it off with a scrubby pad, as pictured below. This does a good job on bugs and stains. I then follow it up by wiping down with Turtle Wax Express Shine Carnauba Wax and buffing off with a clean t-shirt.

Clearly not the only path to a shiny plane. But it seems to do a great job with readily available and affordable agents.

As an aside, that Turtle Wax Ice Detailer is by far the best cleaner I’ve ever used on Plexiglass, replacing Lemon Pledge in my arsenal. Goes on easy, buffs off easy, leaves the Plexiglass crystal clear. Works for me!

Maybe others can share what works for them.

I've been using Plexus, but will have to try the Ice Detailer on my canopy. Thanks for the tip, Eddie.

I use the Ice Spray Wax everywhere, including the windows. It’s polymer based so it doesn't yellow, and it does a great job on skins and plexiglass.
