LSA 2023 Update

Post by AviatorCrafty »

The newest update from Dan Johnson, while fully understanding that none of the things listed are final, if that's the direction the FAA is going then that feels like some hype was wasted. https://bydanjohnson.com/spring-2021-up ... -aircraft/

Creating a whole new category of LPA seemed counterproductive when all everyone wanted was for an expansion of the existing light-sport category, seems like an unnecessary addition, but just my opinion.

Looks like the new rules will be even more ridiculous and convoluted, leading to more contempt and more flouting of them.

Yeah right there, just allowing more weight to accommodate the 172/152 type airplanes is what everyone was asking for anyway.

Figures,

Asking for LSA changes:

What it seems we are getting; nothing, maybe single lever control (LSA)
LPA why IDK.

I am very happy with LSA rules as they stand, it would have been nice for some additional (weight) plane inclusions. For those waiting to make a purchase but waiting for that possibility, this might make that call easier.

I have a C-150. I'm hanging on to it anyway, in case we get surprised.

Seriously, they are either schizophrenic over there at FAA or literally f***ing with us and having a good laugh...
