Flying to a military base

So I got the brilliant idea to fly to Lakehurst Naval Base(technically Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst). My dad worked there for 36 years in supply eventually becoming a director. As kids, they would have an "open house" once a year or so and we would go. Back in the day when it was still a Naval Air Station you could look at the aircraft and even sit in some of the helicopters. The Blue Angels performed there multiple times. My grandfather was a welder and had worked on the mooring mast for the Hindenburg. Not knowing where to start I reached out to the base commander. He got back to me and said it's possible you just need to submit some paperwork and get it approved. He sent me the forms, one about my insurance on the plane, a civil aircraft landing permit request and a hold harmless form. Basically, if I get so much as a hangnail while I'm there it's not their fault. Paperwork going out on Monday. Hopefully it won't take too long to be approved. I'll keep everyone posted.

OK oops #1. Silly me being I'm going to a Navy base I sent the forms to the Navy e-mail address. Someone was nice enough to get back to me. Apparently since this is a "joint base" the Air Force is running the show. So I resent the forms to the Air Force address. I'm also going to reach out to my point-of-contact person just to verify I've done things correctly this time. On the plus side apparently the insurance company has done this before. They needed to complete the certificate of insurance form and they turned it around in 24 hours.

Well, this looks like it's going no where. So shortly after i submitted the paperwork my plane was damaged by the 6 tornadoes that touched down on Long Island, including one at my airport. I didn't get any feedback but being my plane was out of commission I wasn't concerned. Now that my plane has been repaired I reached out to my point of contact only to discover he's on leave. The person who is covering for him didn't sound like I would get approved but said to resend him the paperwork and he would look into it. Geez.
