Building an LSA

Post by rsteele »

I thought some of your might get a kick out of this. I'm building a Zenith 601XL (slowly). On the message forum devoted to this plane, a girl named Sabrina hangs out on a somewhat regular basis. She is always articulate and makes good points/comments. She just completed her plane and it's first flight was in January. Most of us in the forum assumed she was an engineering student, maybe a grad student. It turns out she is 14 and started building when she was 12. You have no idea how humbling this is! In her comments in the forum she says she chose the Zenith because it was the only company willing to support a kid building their plane.

For the curious, check out her web site: http://sabrina.aero/

That is a great story. I love her quote about why she got into building an airplane "the FAA said it was a good first step before building a spacecraft."
